Though health and wellness trends are on the rise in America, millions of men and women in our country find it hard to lose weight and keep it off. According to the CDC, from 2017-2020, almost 42% of adults over 20 were obese. 9.2% were severely obese. That breaks down to 100 million adults being obese and more than 22 million being severely obese. One glance at those stats, and it's clear that we have an obesity problem in the U.S.

Though many adults try dieting and going to the gym, they can't maintain the routine and never accomplish the weight loss goals they set for themselves. They notice extra fat around their stomach, arms, stomach, and neck. While those fat deposits are unsightly, they're also a sign that serious health issues could be around the corner, like stroke or heart disease. That should be concerning for all who are reading this, but especially for commercial drivers, who often don't have access to reliable healthcare.

The good news? Interstate Health now offers Semaglutide and Tirzepatide medical weight loss in Savannah, GA for the men and women traversing our local and national highways. Unlike fad diets and risky weight loss pills, these two new revolutionary weight loss aides help you lose weight and keep it off so you can stay healthy on the road.

Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Does Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss in Savannah, GA Really Work?

Weight loss treatments like Tirzepatide are relatively new to the market, so it's normal to wonder if they really work to help you lose weight effectively. The short answer? Yes, they absolutely do.

Tirzepatide, a naturally occurring compound in your body, plays a crucial role in performing various essential bodily functions. It's designed to mimic the actions of hormones known as 'glucagon-like peptide-1' (GLP-1) and 'glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide' (GIP). This unique ability to mimic two different types of hormones sets Tirzepatide apart and makes it more effective in promoting weight loss.

GLP-1 Hormones Explained

To understand why Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are so effective, you've got to first understand GLP-1 hormones.

Your brain manages and controls your body through a variety of control mechanisms, one of which involves your body's hormone system. These hormones play a role in regulating bodily functions such as digestion and metabolism. GLP-1, also known as glucagon-like peptide-1, belongs to a class of hormones that assist in regulating these digestive and metabolic processes.

Studies indicate that increased levels of GLP-1 signal to the brain that your appetite is satisfied, thereby aiding in the regulation of food consumption. However, studies suggest that some individuals are resistant to GLP-1. In other cases, their bodies may not produce enough GLP-1 for their brains to tell them they're "full." These individuals are more prone to overeating and gaining weight. If that sounds familiar, treatments like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide can help you better control your appetite.

 Long-Term Weight Loss Savannah, GA

How Tirzepatide Works

GLP-1 and GIP hormones tell the brain to stop eating. GIP hormones also start processes that help burn the energy gained from eating. This can help improve blood sugar levels and overall fitness. Tirzepatide and similar medicines work like these hormones. When prescribed by a doctor at Interstate Health, Tirzepatide can be a powerful tool to help you lose weight and keep it off for years.

It's important for you to know that every patient who takes Tirzepatide will have a unique experience. Your results aren't guaranteed. However, recent studies show very promising results.

In a recent clinical trial, over 2,500 individuals classified as obese or overweight experienced significant weight loss in the first of Tirzepatide's weight loss studies. In contrast, individuals who received the placebo (an injection with no medication) only experienced an average weight loss of 3%. Furthermore, over a third of participants receiving the highest Tirzepatide dose at 15 mg per week, lost at least 25% of their initial body weight, which is over 58 lbs.

Truck drivers who want to lose weight and stay healthy must stick to a consistent exercise routine and healthy diet. But when you're on the road 12 or more hours a day, doing so can be difficult. Between important cargo pick-ups, deliveries, and deadlines, there just doesn't seem to be enough time to find, cook, and eat healthy foods. After all, Wendy's is on the way to your next stop, and you've got to be back on the road quickly to meet other deadlines.

Fortunately, many commercial drivers find Semaglutide to be an incredibly valuable tool to kickstart their weight loss and stay healthy. This injection is FDA-approved for treating diabetes and obesity. Like Tirzepatide, it works by activating GLP-1 receptors in your brain.

 Long-Term Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Here's What Makes Semaglutide so Effective

Semaglutide is so successful for overweight drivers because it mimics glucagon. It tells your brain that you're full and don't need to eat more. This makes you feel full, reducing the likelihood of overeating, especially at night. Semaglutide also slows down digestion, cutting down on unnecessary snacking throughout the day. Reducing glucose spikes after meals lowers inflammation, which is an important step in improving overall health. Additionally, Semaglutide helps with insulin secretion by the pancreas, regulates glucose levels, and has anti-aging and longevity properties. If you've tried to lose weight with popular diets and unproven pills, medical weight loss with Semaglutide could be the difference-maker you need.

At a glance, Semaglutide helps you lose weight in a few ways, such as:

slows

Semaglutide slows down the amount of food your stomach empties when you're done eating. This delayed emptying makes it feel like you're full, long after you've put away your food.

curbs

Semaglutide curbs your cravings and helps you turn down unhealthy, non-nutritious food. On average, patients taking Semaglutide consume around 30% less food than they would without it.

lowers

Semaglutide lowers your blood sugar levels without causing them to crash.

Clinical Studies Supporting Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss in Savannah, GA

Better Results Than Placebo

Semaglutide is designed for people who have tried other weight loss methods, have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, and who want to lose at least 10% of their total body weight. Clinical trials were conducted with 1,900 obese adults who were unable to lose five percent of their body weight after a year of treatment with other medications. Those who took Semaglutide increased average weight loss from 2% to 20% after one year, when compared to the placebo provided.

 Long-Term Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Patients Lost 31LBS on Average

In a trial with 1,387 patients who were obese but did not have Type 2 diabetes, patients were randomly assigned to different doses of Semaglutide. The dosages ranged from 0.5 mg-1 mg. There was also a placebo that was used. The trial took place for 104 weeks. The group that took the higher dose of Semaglutide lost an average of 31 pounds. Those on the lower dose lost an average of 11 pounds.

What do all these findings mean for you? If you're looking to lose weight in a healthy manner with diet and exercise, it's worth considering Semaglutide medical weight loss in Savannah, GA from Interstate Health. Semaglutide isn't a miracle drug, but it can get you started on the right path with promising results that you can use to build momentum. The rivalry known as “Deeper Than Hate” between Georgia Southern (7-6) and Appalachian State (5-8) put its hate on full display during the 2025 Birmingham Bowl on Monday, Dec. 29. However, the Mountaineers’ hatred wasn’t enough to power them to a win as the Eagles were able to defeat their longtime rivals 29-10.

The win was Georgia Southern’s first bowl game win during the Clay Helton era through four years at the helm.

A strong third quarter for the Eagles saw them score two touchdowns to take a 16-point lead. That offensive outburst put them in the driver's seat. Meanwhile for the Mountaineers, turnovers kept them from the end zone on multiple drives throughout the game.

“It meant everything, I’m so happy for our guys, and you know winning a bowl game is special,” Georgia Southern QB J.C. French IV said on the ESPN broadcast after the victory.

The two teams played each other back in Week 11 in a game that ended in a 25-23 Georgia Southern win. Since then, many of Appalachian State’s players either opted out for the game or already put their name in the transfer portal. As a result, the Mountaineers were short handed for this one.

Check out the all new PLAY hub with puzzles, games and more!

They especially felt that under center as they were without their first and second string quarterbacks. Instead, the Mountaineers relied on true freshman Noah Dillon and defensive back Matthew Wilson to share quarterback duties.

That didn’t bode well for Appalachian State as the duo threw a combined three interceptions and only managed to reach the end zone once in this matchup. Those turnovers were blemishes on what otherwise was an effective Mountaineers offense. They had 379 total yards of offense in comparison to the Eagles’ 413.

Many of those turnovers came after big chunk plays that left Appalachian State near or in the red zone. Georgia Southern defensive back Dorrian Smith had two of those interceptions in what was a career day for him.

French IV threw for 171 yards and a touchdown. Running back O.J. Arnold rushed for 152 yards. Wideout Marcus Sanders Jr. had 72 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Wilson had 238 total yards and a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions on the evening as well.

The Augusta Chronicle brought you live updates, scores and highlights from the game.

Savannah Just Keeps Getting Cooler—Here’s Where to Soak in the City’s Creative Buzz

The choice to have my bachelorette in Savannah came down to a few factors: a short flight from New York City (Delta operates direct flights out of LGA and JFK), reasonable costs, and sweater weather in February. I also wasn’t interested in bar crawls, nightclubs, or pedal taverns. The prospect of a nighttime tour of a purportedly haunted old mansion after a few martinis felt more on the mark. I should mention that this trip was in early 2019—before there were brides-to-be wearing veils on the riverwalk, before stylish boutique hotels started springing up, before the Starland District became a bona fide foodie mecca.

Like virtually every Savannah-bound traveler, I was drawn to its history and charm—grand homes, cobbled squares, centuries-old oak trees draped with Spanish moss. Back then, the city’s artsy undercurrent was very much alive, of course (Savannah College of Art and Design was founded in 1978), but it hadn’t become the city’s defining trait—which, I would argue, it is now.

What was once a small, sleepy Southern city has emerged as a buzzing nexus of creativity, fueled by SCAD grads and urbanites seeking greener, more gentle pastures. These days, there’s plenty to explore beyond the leafy squares and preserved landmarks in the historic core.

The purchase and retooling of the old Starland Dairy into artists’ studios ignited a spark of revitalization, transforming what was previously an industrial no-man’s land into a creative hub. Painters, sculptors, designers, and young gastronomes with a forward-thinking vision have put down roots. The result is an area where originality and cuisine flourish, colorful murals cover once derelict buildings, offbeat boutiques sell handmade wares, and the younger generation can find some much-needed excitement.

It’s not only Starland that’s benefited from an infusion of energy. Across the city, the culinary and hotel scenes are rapidly evolving, with dozens of new restaurants and boutique basecamps added to the roster in the past few years. And, of course, a city with this much history has a few long-standing favorites and can’t-miss attractions that very much hold up.

From cobblestones to cocktails (which you can sip while strolling, thanks to Savannah’s open container laws), here’s your complete guide to the coolest compact city in the South.

Construction will start later this month. The project team includes The Conlan Co., Randall-Paulson Architects and Kern & Co. JLL will handle leasing efforts.

Transwestern will develop a 240,560-square-foot rear-load building and a 288,000-square-foot front-load facility, each with 36-foot clear heights, dock-high loading doors and multiple points of ingress and egress. Additionally, the properties will have on-site trailer storage, 2,500 square feet of office suites and car parking spots.

North Gate Industrial Park already has three completed buildings. Those total 853,019 square feet and traded last year, when Greenland Developers sold them to The Orden Co. The campus is 11 miles from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Downtown Savannah is within 15 miles southeast. The facilities will have direct access to interstates 95 and 16.

Savannah’s growing industrial inventory

Savannah had 3.3 million square feet of industrial space under construction at the end of the third quarter, according to a CBRE report. Between July and September, 743,000 square feet came online and 431,000 square feet broke ground.

In June, Capital Development Partners obtained financing for the development of three speculative industrial facilities totaling 1.2 million square feet. The warehouses will be part of Central Port Logistics Center.

At the beginning of the year, a joint venture between Trinity Capital and Barings started work on the second phase of Horizon 16 Industrial Park. Plans call for 1.5 million square feet across six buildings at full build-out.

SAVANNAH, GA — Vicious Biscuit is planning its first Georgia location at 7400 Abercorn St #521, Savannah, GA 31406, with a target opening around the end of the first quarter of 2026, franchisee Tim Paslawski told Business Debut. The breakfast-focused brand will enter Georgia with the Savannah store, according to QSR Magazine and Paslawski.

The Savannah Vicious Biscuit will be a fast-casual restaurant where guests order at the counter, pour their own drinks, and have food delivered to the table. Paslawski expects about 110 seats inside, combining traditional tables with bar-height seating along the windows, plus outdoor seating.

Paslawski and his wife, Kelly, also franchise with Chicken Salad Chick and said their goal is to bring more concepts into the Savannah market. “We want to bring our energy to our local community,” he told Business Debut.

The Paslawskis were impressed by Vicious Biscuit from the first time they visited a location. “We went to my son’s graduation, ate there and thought the food was dynamite,” he told Business Debut.

He said conversations with staff and leadership reinforced their interest, citing strong operations and a clear direction for the brand. The Paslawskis describe themselves as focused on the casual dining space, looking for concepts that feel relaxed but well run.

Vicious Biscuit’s biscuit-centered menu and fast-casual service model fit that approach as they add it alongside their Chicken Salad Chick locations.

The Savannah restaurant is currently in the planning phase. The space is an unusually shaped unit that Paslawski described as “kind of shaped a little bit like a trapezoid,” and the team is working with an architect on the layout.

They expect to finalize plans, bid the project to contractors, and are targeting a late first quarter 2026 opening. Paslawski said they have committed to three Vicious Biscuit locations in the area over roughly the next three years, all planned for the broader Savannah market.
