Though health and wellness trends are on the rise in America, millions of men and women in our country find it hard to lose weight and keep it off. According to the CDC, from 2017-2020, almost 42% of adults over 20 were obese. 9.2% were severely obese. That breaks down to 100 million adults being obese and more than 22 million being severely obese. One glance at those stats, and it's clear that we have an obesity problem in the U.S.

Though many adults try dieting and going to the gym, they can't maintain the routine and never accomplish the weight loss goals they set for themselves. They notice extra fat around their stomach, arms, stomach, and neck. While those fat deposits are unsightly, they're also a sign that serious health issues could be around the corner, like stroke or heart disease. That should be concerning for all who are reading this, but especially for commercial drivers, who often don't have access to reliable healthcare.

The good news? Interstate Health now offers Semaglutide and Tirzepatide medical weight loss in Savannah, GA for the men and women traversing our local and national highways. Unlike fad diets and risky weight loss pills, these two new revolutionary weight loss aides help you lose weight and keep it off so you can stay healthy on the road.

Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Does Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss in Savannah, GA Really Work?

Weight loss treatments like Tirzepatide are relatively new to the market, so it's normal to wonder if they really work to help you lose weight effectively. The short answer? Yes, they absolutely do.

Tirzepatide, a naturally occurring compound in your body, plays a crucial role in performing various essential bodily functions. It's designed to mimic the actions of hormones known as 'glucagon-like peptide-1' (GLP-1) and 'glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide' (GIP). This unique ability to mimic two different types of hormones sets Tirzepatide apart and makes it more effective in promoting weight loss.

GLP-1 Hormones Explained

To understand why Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are so effective, you've got to first understand GLP-1 hormones.

Your brain manages and controls your body through a variety of control mechanisms, one of which involves your body's hormone system. These hormones play a role in regulating bodily functions such as digestion and metabolism. GLP-1, also known as glucagon-like peptide-1, belongs to a class of hormones that assist in regulating these digestive and metabolic processes.

Studies indicate that increased levels of GLP-1 signal to the brain that your appetite is satisfied, thereby aiding in the regulation of food consumption. However, studies suggest that some individuals are resistant to GLP-1. In other cases, their bodies may not produce enough GLP-1 for their brains to tell them they're "full." These individuals are more prone to overeating and gaining weight. If that sounds familiar, treatments like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide can help you better control your appetite.

 Long-Term Weight Loss Savannah, GA

How Tirzepatide Works

GLP-1 and GIP hormones tell the brain to stop eating. GIP hormones also start processes that help burn the energy gained from eating. This can help improve blood sugar levels and overall fitness. Tirzepatide and similar medicines work like these hormones. When prescribed by a doctor at Interstate Health, Tirzepatide can be a powerful tool to help you lose weight and keep it off for years.

The top benefits of Tirzepatide medical weight loss in Savannah, GA include the following:

Typical Weight Loss Results When You Take Tirzepatide

If you're interested in Tirzepatide medical weight loss in Savannah, GA, you're probably wondering what typical results look like for patients who take the weight loss treatment. It's important for you to know that every patient who takes Tirzepatide will have a unique experience. Your results aren't guaranteed. However, recent studies show very promising results.

In a recent clinical trial, over 2,500 individuals classified as obese or overweight experienced significant weight loss in the first of Tirzepatide's weight loss studies. Participants treated with Tirzepatide experienced an average weight loss of 15% to 20% of their initial body weight over the course of 72 weeks (approximately 16.5 months), which translated to an average weight loss of 34 lbs. to 48 lbs.

In contrast, individuals who received the placebo (an injection with no medication) only experienced an average weight loss of 3%. Furthermore, over a third of participants receiving the highest Tirzepatide dose at 15 mg per week, lost at least 25% of their initial body weight, which is over 58 lbs.

Get Control of Your Appetite with Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss in Savannah, GA

Truck drivers who want to lose weight and stay healthy must stick to a consistent exercise routine and healthy diet. But when you're on the road 12 or more hours a day, doing so can be difficult. Between important cargo pick-ups, deliveries, and deadlines, there just doesn't seem to be enough time to find, cook, and eat healthy foods. After all, Wendy's is on the way to your next stop, and you've got to be back on the road quickly to meet other deadlines.

Fortunately, many commercial drivers find Semaglutide to be an incredibly valuable tool to kickstart their weight loss and stay healthy. This injection is FDA-approved for treating diabetes and obesity. Like Tirzepatide, it works by activating GLP-1 receptors in your brain.

 Long-Term Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Here's What Makes Semaglutide so Effective

Semaglutide is so successful for overweight drivers because it mimics glucagon. It tells your brain that you're full and don't need to eat more. This makes you feel full, reducing the likelihood of overeating, especially at night. Semaglutide also slows down digestion, cutting down on unnecessary snacking throughout the day. Reducing glucose spikes after meals lowers inflammation, which is an important step in improving overall health. Additionally, Semaglutide helps with insulin secretion by the pancreas, regulates glucose levels, and has anti-aging and longevity properties. If you've tried to lose weight with popular diets and unproven pills, medical weight loss with Semaglutide could be the difference-maker you need.

At a glance, Semaglutide helps you lose weight in a few ways, such as:

slows

Semaglutide slows down the amount of food your stomach empties when you're done eating. This delayed emptying makes it feel like you're full, long after you've put away your food.

curbs

Semaglutide curbs your cravings and helps you turn down unhealthy, non-nutritious food. On average, patients taking Semaglutide consume around 30% less food than they would without it.

lowers

Semaglutide lowers your blood sugar levels without causing them to crash.

Clinical Studies Supporting Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss in Savannah, GA

As one of the few healthcare clinics available in rural areas and along trucking routes, we often get questions from members of the community about our medical weight loss plans. One of the most-asked questions we get revolves around whether there are clinical studies relating to Semaglutide. As an FDA-approved treatment, many trials have been conducted to measure the efficacy of weight loss with Semaglutide. The results are eye-opening.

Published Data from the NIH

A study published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found that patients who took Semaglutide experienced a weight loss percentage of 6.6% after three months and 13.3% after six months.

Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Better Results Than Placebo

Semaglutide is designed for people who have tried other weight loss methods, have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, and who want to lose at least 10% of their total body weight. Clinical trials were conducted with 1,900 obese adults who were unable to lose five percent of their body weight after a year of treatment with other medications. Those who took Semaglutide increased average weight loss from 2% to 20% after one year, when compared to the placebo provided.

 Long-Term Weight Loss Savannah, GA

Patients Lost 31LBS on Average

In a trial with 1,387 patients who were obese but did not have Type 2 diabetes, patients were randomly assigned to different doses of Semaglutide. The dosages ranged from 0.5 mg-1 mg. There was also a placebo that was used. The trial took place for 104 weeks. The group that took the higher dose of Semaglutide lost an average of 31 pounds. Those on the lower dose lost an average of 11 pounds.

What do all these findings mean for you? If you're looking to lose weight in a healthy manner with diet and exercise, it's worth considering Semaglutide medical weight loss in Savannah, GA from Interstate Health. Semaglutide isn't a miracle drug, but it can get you started on the right path with promising results that you can use to build momentum. That's why our weight loss practitioners include Semaglutide as a treatment choice for people struggling with obesity - especially those who've tried other treatments but have had little to no success.

Georgians may want to find a dark spot Thursday night.

If you're willing to stay up late, you have a great chance at seeing a total lunar eclipse, a relatively rare event. Here's what we know:

What is a total lunar eclipse?

Lunar eclipses occur at the full moon phase when Earth is positioned precisely between the Moon and Sun, according to NASA. Earth’s shadow falls upon the surface of the Moon, dimming it and sometimes making the Moon look red over the course of a few hours. Each lunar eclipse is visible from half of Earth.

What time is the lunar eclipse in Georgia?

The eclipse will technically start at about 11:57 p.m. Thursday, March 13, according to Time and Date. However, the partial eclipse won't start until 1:09 a.m. Friday, March 14. The eclipse will reach totality at 2:26 a.m. and its maximum viewing is around 2:58 a.m. Totality will end by 3:31 a.m. and it will just be a partial eclipse by 4:47 a.m.

The exact timing of this may differ by a few minutes, depending on which area of Georgia you live in. But this is the eclipse schedule for most of Georgia's major metro areas.

When is the next total lunar eclipse in Georgia?

Time and Date says the next total lunar eclipse over Georgia is (technically) in 2026. However, the window isn't as long because residents won't see it until 6-6:30 a.m. depending on where you live and it's close to the horizon, so you would need a clear view to the west.

Therefore, practically speaking, the next total lunar eclipse will be in 2029 with the best visibility in Georgia's south and east regions.

Prosecutors say there are 5 victims in total, and the indictment reveals they are all young children.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A former Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Corporal is facing multiple charges. The 36-year-old Savannah man was indicted last week on various charges, including rape, aggravated sodomy and aggravated child molestation.

Prosecutors say there are five victims in total, and the indictment reveals they are all young children.

Kenneth Dwayne Morrell was chosen to serve and protect- but is now accused of heinous crimes against five different children, three of them under the age of 10. The other two victims were younger than 16 years old.

Morrell is charged with raping a female under 10 and a female under 16, along with multiple counts of aggravated sodomy, and several counts of aggravated child molestation to those two girls, as well as the other three children.

The indictment alleges Morrell committed these crimes on the young victims between 2004 and 2010. The victims all either live in Savannah or Port Wentworth. Most, but not all of them are young females.

He was first arrested in 2020, initially for five counts of child molestation. His charges were later upgraded as more victims were discovered. He was arrested on June 11th, 2020, and bonded out on September 11th, 2020, just three months later.

His bond was $5,500. His conditions were no contact with the victims or their parents, along with wearing an ankle monitor and being on house arrest. The judge is solely responsible for granting and setting bonds.

Court records show it was then bound up to a superior court where things changed.

John E Morse Jr. was that judge. The document dated December 2021, “By order of the court, the previously posted bond in this case shall hereby cover and and include any additional charge contained in the above indictment.”

In February of 2021, court records reveal a consent order. That document read that Morrell, “petitioned the court to modify the conditions of his bond. Both the defendant (Morrell) and the prosecution both agree that ‘house arrest’ should no longer apply.”

The document still states he must not have contact with the victims or their families. This was signed by Assistant District Attorney Tim Dean, and Superior Court Judge Lisa Goldwire Colbert.

He was taken off house arrest on February 8th, 2021, and has been out ever since. There are no other documents, filings or event in the court system regarding a bond or incarceration.

Prior to his arrest, Morrell was the one enforcing the law. He was a jailor and a corporal with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office for several years. He served in his role as a deputy from 2016 to 2020.

He was terminated by the sheriff’s office on June 5th, 2020- six days before he was arrested.

His case has been going through the court system for several years now. He was indicted by a grand jury in Chatham County on all 11 charges, at the end of February, according to the DA’s office.

WTOC gave his wife a call today, she says she wasn’t aware that any of this happened prior to his arrest back in 2020, but when we asked for a comment, she said to give him a call instead. We were unable to reach Morrell with the number on his records.

Morrell’s court records don’t show when the next hearing in his case is, the DA’s office says they will check in on this for us.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more.

Personal-finance website WalletHub released on Wednesday its 2025 Best Cities to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day, with Savannah peaking at No. 3 among the top 200 for the second consecutive year.

The cities on the best list were scored out of 100 points based on their rankings in the following categories: St. Patrick's Day traditions, St. Patrick's Day weather, safety and accessibility and costs.

“St. Patrick’s Day celebrates the Irish, but it’s become a beloved cultural holiday for millions ofAmericans regardless of their ancestry," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a news release. "The best cities for St. Patrick’s Day combine rich traditions with tasty and affordable food, safe conditions to celebrate, and good weather. Atlanta, Columbus and Augusta all dropped down a few spots since the 2024 best list, but Savannah's score has remained consistent.

According to WalletHub, around 500,000 visitors visit Savannah to attend the seventh-oldest St. Patrick's Day parade and the Celtic Cross Ceremony, and also to partake in other traditions.

"St. Patrick’s Day is heavily associated with drinking, and Savannah has more bars per capita than any other city," WalletHub reported.

This year's 201st parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Gwinnett and Abercorn streets. The festivity features floats, dancers and marching bands and gathers visitors from across the world, according to the city event site.

"Locals and visitors look forward to the parade all year as it is Savannah's largest event. So famous, that dedicated attendees will camp out along the parade route to ensure they have the best views," read the site.

The top 10 best places to celebrate St. Patrick's Day were as follows:

St. Patrick's Day is traditionally observed on March 17 in recognition of the missionary Saint Patrick, the primary patron saint of Ireland who was born in Great Britain.

Those who celebrate the Irish holiday usually paint the town green, a color that "originated as a symbol of rebellious Irish nationalism," the History Channel stated. A myth states that people who wear green become invisible to leprechauns while anyone caught not wearing green may be subject to the leprechaun's pinch.

Though modern-day St. Augustine, Florida, was home to the earliest recorded St. Patrick's parade in 1601, New York's parade is deemed the oldest and largest as it travels along over a mile up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
