Butler is seeking to be traded from the Miami Heat, but he does have some restrictions:
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix appeared as a guest on “The Ryen Russillo Podcast” for an episode published on Wednesday. The two talked about the Butler situation, and that’s when Mannix mentioned the teams Butler doesn’t want to be traded to.
“The two teams he has basically been communicating that he didn’t want to go to, were the Memphis Grizzlies and the Sacramento Kings,” Mannix said.
Though Mannix said that Butler has noted he does not want to be traded to either team, the reporter says he would still watch out for the Grizzlies as a potential landing spot.
The Butler-Heat situation has become untenable. The 6-time All-Star has only played in 25 games this season and is currently serving an indefinite suspension. It marks the third time he has been suspended by Miami this season.
The trade deadline is February 6, and Butler’s current suspension runs through the deadline.
Butler, 35, is averaging 17.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game this season. He has been with the Heat for the 2019-2020 season and has led them to at least the conference finals three times.
Butler is maintaining a sense of humor about things and joked on social media Wednesday about being unemployed.
Despite the Bucks’ good play, a few other Eastern Conference contenders have done better. If Butler joins the team, Milwaukee could vault back into the top tier, but the question would be, “At what cost? ”

In fact, though it may be hard to believe amid a frigid January, Wisconsin may have more unseasonably warm days in store for the spring, according to Old Farmer's Almanac spring weather forecast released this week. Since 1818, the almanac has released extended weather forecasts for the upcoming season using the same astronomical and meteorological formula.
Though the Farmer's Almanac predicts a warmer-than-normal spring for most of the country, the winter weather will linger for a while longer, the forecast said. The almanac has deemed the upcoming season a "thunder and zing spring."
"Spring weather will take its time arriving, allowing winter conditions to linger, especially across the Midwest, Great Lakes, New England, and Northeast regions," the Farmer's Almanac said.

What does the Farmers' Almanac predict for spring in Wisconsin?
Most of Wisconsin will experience a warmer-than-normal spring, with some parts of the state also due for a rainy few months, according to the Farmer's Almanac forecast.
In the upper half of Wisconsin, temperatures will be much warmer than normal at 3 degrees above average. The northern tip of the state will also see drier weather, though the forecast grows rainier as you move south.
In central Wisconsin, residents can expect a warmer and wetter spring. The southeast corner of the state, meanwhile, is forecast to see normal temperatures and drier weather — a shift from last year, when Milwaukee logged its third-wettest spring on record, following a yearlong severe drought.
On Easter weekend, which runs from April 20 to 23, the Farmer's Almanac predicts Wisconsin will see "fair, then unsettled" weather. The forecast is less promising for Memorial Day weekend, May 23 to 26, with "unsettled weather" spreading into the Ohio Valley and threatening a rainy few days in the Midwest.
Why will it be warmer than normal this spring?
The warmer spring is, at least in part, a result of the current solar cycle approaching its maximum later this year, the Farmer's Almanac said.
The solar cycle is an 11-year process wherein the sun's magnetic field flips, often causing activity to flare up on the sun's surface, according to NASA. This high solar activity has been linked to warmer temperatures across Earth — though the Farmer's Almanac notes this link has become weaker in recent decades.
The sun is currently in Solar Cycle 25, which is expected to reach its maximum around July 2025, with a peak of 115 sunspots, according to the National Weather Service.
What does the spring weather forecast mean for gardeners?
The above-average spring temperatures should be "generally good news for gardeners" across the country, the Farmer's Almanac said.
However, gardeners in areas that may see lower precipitation, such as southeastern Wisconsin, may want to take some extra precautions, the forecast added.
"For example, gardeners may want to use more soaker hoses or drip irrigation this year. When selecting plants, consider more native plantings and less moisture-intensive crops," the Farmer's Almanac said.
How accurate is the Farmers' Almanac forecast?
The Farmer's Almanac predicts the long-range weather using solar science, climatology and meteorology, often with close to 80% accuracy, according to its website. However, the Columbus Dispatch found that most analyses of the almanac's predictions have an accuracy rate closer to 50%.
This winter, the Farmer's Almanac predicted a "cold, wet and white" winter for Wisconsin, with especially heavy snow showers from the last week of January into early February. Though Milwaukee and Wisconsin did kick off the year with a period of extreme cold to kick off the year, Milwaukee had only logged half of its normal snow totals as of Jan. 22.

The first day of spring is Thursday, March 20.

An unusual sight in the sky caught the attention of people across the state Tuesday evening.
Images and videos from viewers in Kenosha, Elm Grove and New Berlin show what appears to be debris falling from the sky around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
A meteorologist from the National Weather Service told TMJ4 there were no scheduled meteor showers for Tuesday night and they had not heard of anything unusual so far.

TMJ4’s Brian Niznansky weighed in, saying the sighting could be space debris burning up as it enters the atmosphere or possibly a Starlink satellite.

WISCONSIN — Bird flu is a primary driver of the higher prices Wisconsin consumers have been paying for eggs and, if experts are right, will continue to pay.
The Labor Department’s December inflation report showed the price of a dozen Grade A eggs rose to $4.15 in December, up from about $3.30 in October. In some parts of the country, a dozen eggs can cost a buck each — if consumers can find them.
December egg prices were 37 percent higher than they were during the same period in 2023. At the same time, the overall annual grocery inflation rate for December was 1.8 percent.
If projections from the Agriculture Department prove out, egg prices could increase another 20 percent by the end of 2025 because of a resurgence of bird flu.
“Not to be the bearer of bad news, but we’re in this for a while,” Emily Metz, president and CEO of the American Egg Board, told CNN Business. “Until we have time without a detection, unfortunately, this very, very tight egg supply is going to continue.”

Local egg prices
For the cheapest eggs in the Milwaukee area, Target offers Grade A large eggs for as low as $4.59 per dozen, according to Shipt.
On the other end of the spectrum, Fresh Thyme and Vital Farms offer premium options like pasture-raised or organic eggs, with prices reaching up to $10.69 for a dozen.
If you're looking for a middle ground, Meijer offers cage-free eggs ranging from $5.65 to $8.65, depending on the quantity.

Active investigations of avian flu outbreaks are ongoing in about two dozen states, covering everything from commercial operations to backyard flocks.
Since the current outbreak began in 2022, about 135 million egg-laying hens have been destroyed. About 13 million have been euthanized since December resulting in “record high” prices as producers “struggled to provide a consistent supply to consumers,” according to the latest USDA Egg Markets Overview.
What Are Grocers Doing?
Some independent grocery stores are holding the line on egg prices as a way to build customer loyalty and push back against the perception that absent mass buying power, independent stores are too expensive.
For example, a LaBonne’s store in Watertown, Connecticut, was selling Egglands Best eggs for $3.99 a dozen earlier this month. Bob LaBonne Jr., the president and CEO of the four-store chain, told Grocery Dive the lower prices underscore the store’s commitment to affordable groceries.
“As a smaller store, you have the image of being high-priced. So the last thing you want to do is confirm that by being overly aggressive on trying to get margins on items that are sensitive,” LaBonne told the digital grocery news site.
The USDA said many grocery stores are putting limits on how many eggs a consumer can buy per shopping trip to stretch limited supplies and dissuade customers from panic-buying.
What Are Egg Producers Doing?
Unlike the 2015 outbreak of avian influenza spread by wild birds during migration that lasted for only a season, this one has been persistent and has spread beyond birds to dairy cattle, to cats and to people, where mutations have sparked pandemic worries.
“By any metric, you look at animal epizootics, basically animal-based-pandemics, this is the largest one we’ve ever had,” Maurice Pitesky, an associate professor at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine who focuses on highly pathogenic avian influenza and disease modeling, told Business Insider.
“It’s in the environment. We see it in dairy lagoons. We see it in human wastewater,” he said. “So it's ubiquitous at this point.”
That means chickens can get bird flu from different sources, and there’s not much egg farmers can do to stop its spread. Surveillance and tracking of the virus help producers harden husbandry practices and biosecurity measures, but doing so can be expensive and drive egg prices even higher, according to experts.
“We’re all in uncharted territory,” Brian Moscogiuri, a global trade strategist at Eggs Unlimited, a California-based egg supplier, told Business Insider, adding, “The producers don’t really have a recourse.”
Are Eggs Safe To Eat?
According to guidance from the Food and Drug Administration, the chances of contaminated eggshells making it to a grocery store shelf is “low” and proper storage and preparation further reduce the risk.
There is no evidence the bird flu virus can be transmitted to humans through properly prepared food, according to the agency.
Eggs should be refrigerated immediately after purchase and eggs should “until both the yolk and the white are firm,” the agency says. Dishes containing eggs, such as casseroles, should be cooked to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Milwaukee Brewers Shortstop Prospect Cooper Pratt Ranked 50th In Top 100 Of Baseball America
Before the 2025 minor league baseball season, Baseball America released its top 100 prospects ahead of the 2025 season. One of the prospects who made the list was Pratt. He was not ranked last season on the list and is ranked 50th ahead of the 2025 season.
Pratt is one of four Brewers prospects who made this list. Brewcrewball.com writer Adam Zimmer said about Cooper Pratt being ranked at 50:
“The 20-year-old Pratt ranks as the Brewers’ second-best shortstop prospect due to the rapid ascendance of Made. He would be the best for a lot of other clubs. Pratt has essentially played one season of minor league ball, playing in just 12 games in 2023 after the Brewers drafted him out of high school in Mississippi and signed him away from his commitment to Ole Miss. He was promoted twice in 2024, finishing the season in the playoffs with Double-A Biloxi. Pratt slashed .277/.362.406 while winning a minor league Gold Glove. He already appears to be a major league-level defender; if he continues to rake in a full season of Double-A ball, he should earn a promotion to Triple-A by the end of the season. Again, like Made, he’ll be ranked higher than No. 50 next season if he continues to play at the level he’s been playing at.”
He was a sixth-round selection (182nd overall) in the 2023 MLB Draft. Pratt is projected to reach the big leagues in 2027. He will probably spend most of the 2025 MLB season with the Biloxi Shuckers in Double-A. Pratt is 6’4″ and weighs 195 lbs. He is a right-handed hitter and a right-handed thrower.
The Rise Of Jesus Made
Milwaukee Brewers prospect shortstop Jesus Made was not ranked in the prospect list of Baseball America last year. He is not projected to be in the big leagues until 2028 but is already ranked ahead of Pratt. There is no doubt that Jesus Made and Cooper Pratt will have spots on the Brewers roster in the future.
Made is only 17 years old and was signed as an international free agent on January 15, 2024. Both can play shortstop, but Jesus Made can also play third base. Cooper Pratt will probably be in the big leagues before Made, but both should have nice MLB careers when the time comes.
