Renowned leaders will provide strategic guidance during a formative period of growth
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (February 26, 2025) – Interstate Health announced today that it has added three prominent leaders to its advisory board: Speaker Newt Gingrich, Joe DeSantis and Nicholas S. Zeppos. With these appointments, the advisory board has deepened its resources and expertise across various strategic disciplines including healthcare, public policy and operations strategy.
Speaker Newt Gingrich is Chairman of Gingrich 360, a multimedia production and consulting company based in Arlington, Virginia. Gingrich is a Fox News contributor, podcast host, syndicated columnist and author of 43 books, including 18 fiction and nonfiction New York Times bestsellers. He was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 until 1999, a Republican candidate for President of the United States in 2012 and is internationally recognized as an expert on world history, military issues and international affairs.
Joe DeSantis is the Chief Strategy Officer for Gingrich 360 and leads the consulting division, with clients in health care, aviation and education. DeSantis also serves as Speaker Gingrich’s primary liaison with campaigns and lawmakers.
Nicholas S. Zeppos served as Chancellor and CEO of Vanderbilt University from 2008-2019, and from 2008-2015 its integrated academic health system. In his role as Chancellor, Zeppos developed substantial expertise in biomedical research, innovation and technology through both start-ups and licensing, drug development, health care, college sports and media rights, investment management and structured credit. In 2020, Zeppos returned to full-time teaching and currently serves as Chancellor Emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Law and Political Science Emeritus.
“Our mission to improve health outcomes for the people who work and live along America’s highways requires both a deep understanding of healthcare and a willingness to disrupt the delivery system and remove barriers in order to improve access,” said Jeff Seraphine, Interstate Health Chief Executive Officer (CEO). “Our advisory board is instrumental to our success, and the expertise Speaker Gingrich, Joe and Nicholas bring to our organization is going to help us scale our business and reach more commercial drivers and rural communities.”
Interstate Health launched in November 2022 with significant support from private investors who are current or former trucking, transit, logistics and technology executives. The nation’s economy and the basic needs of more than 300 million Americans depend on commercial drivers and transit professionals. However, commercial drivers are medically underserved due to poor access to care and thus face increased rates of chronic disease and a shorter life expectancy. Interstate Health aims to address the needs of these drivers and the nearly 46 million Americans currently live in medically underserved areas through a nationwide network of clinics.
Today, Interstate Health operates primary care, urgent care and occupational health clinics in Georgia, Tennessee and Wisconsin, as well as telemedicine services tailored to commercial drivers. The company also provides practice management services to physician practices in local communities.
